Family Pictures

We were needing to update our family picture. My sister Liz does a good job, and I knew she was heading this way in December. So I made her squeeze us in before she flew out to Hawaii. Thanks Lizzie! So here are some of my favorites. (I had TONS more, but my computer kept acting up, so these will have to do).

Christmas Eve with the Brown's
Soup + bread for dinner
This is how Drew was for half of the evening.

CHRISTMAS MORNING
Brynn's favorite toy: HMS singing doll
Kennedy's favorite toy: Cub Alive
Luke's favorite toy: ALL of Them!
Drew's favorite toy: Shrek doll
Kamryn's favorite: a stocking full of diapers
Hot tubing on Christmas a new Salisbury tradition

As Drew used to say... "Merry Mitmas!" This post is for the Grandma/Grandpa in WA State, and for Grandma/Grandpa in China! We had a great Christmas. On Christmas Eve my brother Clint and his family came over for dinner, a Christmas message, and gift exchange. I always love the night of Christmas Eve with my family. In the morning we have a rule where the kids can not come in our room till 6am. Well, this year Drew woke up the whole hall at 4:45am! So, finally Travis and I caved at 5:15am after realizing there would be no hope of anymore shut eye. We spent the morning getting toys put together and putting in batteries! Later in the day we heated up the Hot tub and started a new Salisbury tradition. It was so fun to be in the warm hot tub with the air so cold. Travis even jumped in the big pool with the water temperature at 41 degrees---CrAzY!! Then we headed off to Clint's house for a nice Christmas dinner and family time. We missed being with ALL of our family, but am thankful to have my brother here to share the holidays, and a healthy family.

Coloring My Own Hair!

BEFORE

DURING! (scary)

FINAL RESULT

Well I have been tired of my "mousy" brown hair. A couple of months ago I went and got it professionally colored to be dark for the winter, but it faded so quickly (as you will see in the future family pix I will post). So I decided to try to be BRAVE, and consider doing it myself. I have never colored my own hair, but I was ready to liven it up a bit and give it a try! I am happy with the color, although it's a little edgy for me. When I see it in the mirror, I don't like it as much as I do in pictures, I think I just need to get used to it. I hope Travis likes it because I accidentally did a "permanent" color, rather than semi! Oops!

Lizzie is here!

Liz (5 months preg.), Clint, Paige, Jeremy, Meredith, Travis
Brother and Sisters (still missing 4 others)

Travis + Meredith seeing lights at Mission Inn

I love when family comes to visit. Liz and her husband Jeremy came to drop off their sweet little girl for us to watch as they head out to Hawaii! So we took advantage and went out on a group date with my brother Clint and his wife. I love being with my brothers and sisters. I am so glad I live 5 minute from Clint, he is such a fun brother, and is so good to me. Liz is the baby and totally a crack up. Everyone loves to be around her. We went to Spaghetti Factory to eat, after much "loud laughter" we went to Mission Inn in Riverside to see the Christmas lights. It was such a fun date.

Brynn's Nativity Performance

Brynn singing in a duet
Brynn and Brinley (they look like they should be sisters)
The "Bryn's" and their mom's (Amber + Meredith)

All the 8-11yr old girls sang in a nativity performance for Enrichment Night. They all were asked to wear their baptism dress. Well, Brynn pulled hers out and umm...is there such thing as a "hoochy" baptism dress?! Let's just say she grew a few inches over the year. It was so short on her, and it was the only white dress she had. So I kept tugging on the hem to make it longer, but Travis was worried I was ruining it for when Kennedy wears it this spring. It's just cotton, I can throw in back in the washer and it will go back to normal, right?

Anyway, besides the wardrobe malfunction, it was such a sweet night. The girls sounded like little angels. Brynn was so beautiful in her little simple dress. She did a good job singing in her duet. That was a big step for her. Way to go Brynn!

Christmas Time

I love Christmas time. I have such fond memories of setting up the tree, the count down calender with candy on it, and the old wooden manger set. I loved Christmas Eve night, then in the morning SANTA would leave all the presents unwrapped so it was an overwhelming, but amazing feeling to see all of our gifts at once. It's kind of weird being on the other side, the one creating these fond memories for my own kids. We actually set up the tree right after Thanksgiving, but I didn't think to post pictures till recently. I tried to be better at letting my kids take part in the decorating. My mom always let us do the decorating, so even when I saw like 7 red bulbs together in a bunch, I just quietly would move a few around. For the most part they did a pretty good job. Kamryn likes to sit and tug on each of the ornaments. Hopefully her "tug" will stay dainty and not bring down the tree.

Thanksgiving

We had a nice Thanksgiving, Travis's brother and family came up from San Diego. This was going to be our last visit because they are moving up to WA. They came and stayed for four days, and we had a nice time. We went to In and Out, ate, up to Oak Glen, ate, went on a double date, ate, hot tubbed, ate, and set up our Christmas tree, and ate. The kids play so well, and really had a fun time together. Shaun and Shay kids are angels, so after the observation, all I could hear were my kids whining, crying, fighting, and throwing tantrums! On our last night, Luke came in at 4am and was screaming/crying because he wasn't sleeping on the couch where dad promised to move him. What?! Is this really happening at 4am?! So after a rough night and a realization that my kids were stinks, I had a melt down right in front of my company. Totally crying in front of them---sorry Shaun and Shay....So for FHE that night Travis and I lined all the kids up and talked about the things each one did that week and what they need to change, even down to Drew calling me a "meanie". My sensitive Kennedy was sobbing in her hands, Luke was holding a strong face with tears in his eyes, and Brynn didn't cry till she heard (for punishment) there was NO FHE treat , then the flood gates opened. I think the talk really worked because they have been so pleasant and helpful these past couple of days---my sweet babes are back.....for now!

Brave Hot Day

This was a brave day at the doctors....for me! I actually took all five kids to get their flu shots at the same time. I knew I could be setting myself up for a major melt down, but I would rather come once than five separate times. I only got one person who said "Are these all ....are these all....are these all yours?" I just smiled and nodded. To my surprise we were in and out, without major incident. Although, Brynn started freaking out when it was time for the shot, yes--my oldest, so they found one flu nasal spray instead, and she got it! No not Kamryn, Luke, or anyone younger, my 9 year old. This is my same daughter who had to get Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) at the dentist to calm her down while getting sealants for her teeth---not a shot/cavity, sealants! Funny girl--- On our way back from the doctor, I was trying to get in the "Holiday" mood. I was taking the kids to Toys R Us to make a 'Santa' list. I turned on a radio station that just started playing Christmas music. Then I look up and see this! WHAT?! 90 degrees and we are entering into the Holiday season. That's just sick, wrong, and no fun---I love CA, but during Nov/Dec. I get pretty irritated with the warm weather. Setting up the Christmas tree is no fun as the A/C is blowing on you and all your ornaments. So to all my dear friends, enjoy your 'White Christmas'......

I wish I could: Drink hot chocolate and not get hot, wear my cute new Modbe scarf and not look out of place, have a reason to buy some Uggs, put on warm PJ's at night with thick socks, wear my long sleeves WITH a jacket, play Christmas music with it snowing!

Luke's Soccer Season

Travis got to watch his first son in a sport, something he had been looking forward too. You can see Luke gets his "game face" on which Travis loves, it's pretty funny. This was Luke's first time playing in an organized sport, and he did a good job. Travis sponsored the team this year, so we had to get a shot of Luke wearing 'Salisbury CPA' on his jersey. He is so proud of his first trophy. Go Luke!

Kennedy's Soccer Season

Kennedy really improved this year with soccer. She was so fun to watch, including when she did cart-wheels on the field (Sis, wrong sport). She was sad for it to end, but has given me a list of things she wants to do before next soccer season---playing the guitar, and hip hop dance--that could make for a "wild" combo.

Happy Birthday Drew

Drew with Benson, Kennedy, Kenzi, Brynn, Luke, and Landon Salisbury

My little man is 3yrs old (he insisted on having more than 3 candles). I love the 3rd birthday because I have graduated from the crazy toddler years. As busy as he is, he is worth every mess he did, every chase down, and every time I had/have to carry him back to his bed at night. We went to San Diego for the night to visit his cousins (Landon and Kenzi Salisbury), and then in the morning we headed to Sea World. Drew has been on a whale kick since the last visit, so he got Shamu slippers for his birthday. He really likes it when Travis plays Shamu in the pool. Everyone has to do the chant, then Travis goes around and splashes everyone with his foot(playing a fin), Drew loves it. Drew how did we get so lucky to get you!

Halloween Night

Salisbury's Halloween Night!
My three witches
Luke--Batman & Drew--Indiana Jones

Kamryn's 1st pumpkin

On Halloween morning Kennedy woke up with a bloody nose. It got on her hand, arm, and face. After it stopped, she came up to me and told me she was so glad she had a bloody nose on Halloween. I asked her "why?" and she said because now she can go to school with blood on her hands and face. UH no---I made her get cleaned up right away. She is so funny, she was pretty much in character all night as the "bad" witch. She even had Travis take like 6 pictures of her trying to give a very serious face, and she was NOT kidding. We had a nice time trick or treating in our neighborhood. Even though my kids were a bit on the cranky side. I even heard them arguing at some one's front door, who gets to go first---mercy! Thanks to my sister-n-laws for the matching witch costumes.

California Screamin' Rollercoaster

Since we have not had Disneyland passes in awhile, we decided to surprise our kids and take them to California Adventure "Halloween Time". They close the park down at 6:30pm and let a private group in to trick or treat. We went with Travis's brother Shaun and his family. They are living in San Diego for 6 months, so we knew this would be our only chance to do this with them. It was a great night, but I have to admit I think I had my hopes up a little too much on the candy. I was expecting HUGE candy bars, you know Disneyland always does it best, but it was pretty much just regular Halloween candy. Although, the kids got a lot of one on one time dancing with the characters, and getting autographs. Hopefully it will be a night the kids will always remember.
