Disneyland Day

We decided to take a day in May and hit Disneyland before it got super crowded for the summer. We let the kids play hooky from school and enjoyed the day as a family.

Eating our "frugal" homemade lunches
Meeting Mickey Mouse....Kamryn wouldn't stop starring at him (so cute).
There are 3 kids in this stroller......Luke in front, Kamryn in back, and Drew on top. When you have 3 kids in a stroller and 2 on the sides that's a big clue you are Mormon! Love it!

Mother's Day 2010

I had a great Mother's Day.......Travis was able to cut out most of his meetings and be around to pamper me. The kids were so excited to get up and sing to me in church today. All the talks/lessons made me cry. Brynn got tired of me asking her to fix my eye make-up.

I love being a Mother, it is my identity, it is why I am here. Heavenly Father blessed me and entrust me to guide these children back to him. I feel like the luckiest lady in the world right now, 5 kids and an incredibly valiant man by my side! There is truly nothing else I need.
The noblest calling in the world is that of mother. True motherhood is the most beautiful of all arts, the greatest of all professions. She who can paint a masterpiece or who can write a book that will influence millions deserves the plaudits and admiration of mankind; but she who rears successfully a family of healthy, beautiful sons and daughters whose immortal souls will be exerting an influence throughout the ages long after paintings shall have faded, and books and statues shall have been destroyed, deserves the highest honor that man can give."

Mormon Helping Hands

All across California the Mormons were helping their communities. Our ward was in charge of cleaning up, weed wacking, and mowing a large park. We had a great turn out. Travis teased me that I tried getting out of work by carrying around a large stick all morning trying to figure out which trash bag to put it in.....haha, but not true. We had a great day of service, and I am glad the kids were there hands on to learn that......

School Talent Show

The kids were in the school talent show this year. In the beginning I tried bribing them with ice cream not to do it....I just knew how much work/practice it takes, but after watching them that night, I was so glad they took that opportunity and ignored my bribes!

Solar Cooking

I have braved and conquered the scary thought of cooking with a solar oven! I have ignored the topic till now. It was actually really easy, and pretty fun. My friend Patty came over and made it so simple to understand. I did the constructing one day, and then tested cooking in them another. I knew if I didn't just do it now I never would. So here is how everything turned out in about 3 hours of baking in the sun.......My friend Jennie happened to drop by and decided to join in on the fun.

Solar ovens at work
Rice (you have to cook in black jars)

Pinto Beans with bacon
Saucy chicken with cream cheese
Bread that didn't look too pretty, but tasted yum!
Everything tasted soooo good. I was so excited........if you can't tell by this picture. Travis took the picture and said " Now there is a woman proud of her work!" I was really beaming, I know that sounds funny, but I felt so accomplished. I couldn't believe the power this little knowledge has given me to be more thoroughly prepared for my family. Solar brownies anyone?!

Thank you Patty for empowering me, I could not have done it without you!!
