Spa Swimming

This is how we swim in the fall. The nights get cool which make the pool water super cold! Yet in the day we are high 80's/low 90's! So Travis heated up the spa just enough for everyone to swim, heating the main pool would have taken forever, plus kill the utility bill-- It was cramped though, with a few bumps and scrapes from the walls. Travis tried convincing the kids to play a game where he would bite all of their legs, but that didn't fly too well after half of them were in tears. Overall, I think everyone was happy to be cooling off and swimming again.

My Big Boy

Diapers no more!(well, for Drew anyway) We have been doing this since Aug. He only had a stinky accident once, and since then Travis has been home free of changing toddler diapers. His wetting is a little spotty, but usually goes the whole day with a dry pull-up. He is very independent about doing it all by himself. I told Travis the other day, I had just realized Drew had not asked me to wipe him for about 2 days! Sick, he was doing it himself---good and bad--if you know what I mean. That's what happens when you are in a family of 5 kids, the mom has no time to keep track of who pooped when. So here is a thumbs up from Drew!

Tagged

Well I am not so good at this "tag" thing in the blog world, but I will try. I am suppose to tell you 6 quirks of mine:
TIME
1. I can't stand being late. I am the type person who sets a standard for myself and I need to do it, and that's being on time. I don't care about others being late to church or events, it's just about myself. I feel like if I am late, I am being disrespectful to "whoever" has put together the activity, and I feel rude. On Sunday mornings when we are driving to church and we are borderline on time or not, I start accusing Travis of purposefully driving slow to get me mad. (He probably is just driving along trying to feel the spirit) He ends up laughing at me, and tells me "he thinks I have and OCD problem with being punctual".
FOOD
2. I have mental issues with food. I have never liked fish. The taste, smell, look, touch, nothing. Because of this I have convinced myself to never eat anything that swims under water.

3. OK all you hunters out there are totally going to roll your eyes at this one. I will not eat "game" meat. If it's not a normal item you can purchase in the grocery store, then I have no desire to eat it. Even if it tasted delicious, I have no interests to have a dinner plate full of gamy food. Now I know your saying, "well what if your dying", then I must say that would be the only way. In the past when I have been put on the spot to eat it, it ends up in tears. I know, completely mental.

4. I can't eat or drink after my kids. Travis can, but if I want something they didn't finish, I have to rip off where they bit first.
SLEEP
5. I have to have something between my knees when I sleep. Whether it be a pillow, or some of the blanket bunched up. I don't like the feeling of them touching.

6. If I know someone is awake in the house when I am going to bed, then I have to have the door totally shut, or I can't fall asleep in fear that I will be awakened by any noise.

OK now I am embarrassed you guys know all this dirt on me, how ironic it's mainly about food and sleep. Travis always says, I am happiest when good food enters the room. So I guess I have to tag 6 people: Kristen, Amye, Jenna, Liz, Jande, Jen

Fall Time

The kids up in Oak Glen, at the pumpkin patch (notice Luke pouting).
The Boys
The Girls
We had such a fun day on Monday. We drove up to Oak Glen which is a quaint mountain town about 10 min. away from our house. I love it because it has the seasons! The leaves change and it even gets snow in the winter, which is so crazy because we don't get snow and we live so close (once in a blue moon if we get a snowflake fall, it is instantly breaking news). So we took the day and went to pick apples, see pumpkins, and enjoy the nature we have in our own backyard. To top it off we went out to lunch and got a yummy carmel apple! Just spending the day as a family was such a great memory.

Mr. Sneaky

So all day yesterday Drew was walking around like this. The first time I saw him do this I asked him if he needed to go potty, and he says "No mommy, I am just going to watch a show." Then I realized he had candy in his pocket, and was trying to hide it. I thought I can either bust him right now, or I can let him think he pulled one over on me. So I just had to smile and say "OK" and walk away. It's so funny that his little mind is already trying to be sneaky. I let him get away with it for a couple of times because I found it so humorous, but I guess I better get responsible before I raise a child that thinks stealing is cute!

EARTHQUAKE

There was a 4.1 earthquake last night centered in Yucaipa. It was around 2:30am and I woke up to a jolt and then trembling that seemed to go on for awhile. Seconds seem like minutes during an earthquake. Kennedy was the only one that woke up and came into our room. I am so glad the others slept through it. So for the rest of the night every time Travis would turn in the bed I thought it was another one coming and my stomach would drop. It made for a long night. There has only been one aftershock, but I couldn't feel it. I had no idea before I moved here that Yucaipa is based on, not just one, but a FEW fault lines. Well I am glad this was not the BIG one. Time to fill my last water barrel!
